STUPIDITY

The essence of stupidity is in doing things automatically, without question, and then complaining when life follows a certain pattern.

The cure to stupidity, is to step back and to observe yourself.

When you have an urge to do something, ask yourself, “If I did this, would it really be in my best interests? And if doing it isn’t in my best interests, and I went ahead and did it anyway, wouldn’t that be stupid? Is that the way I really want to live my life?”

The urge may be that powerful that you succumb. No matter. The key thing is that you were not living life on automatic, for once.

But if you keep on succumbing, when you know how daft it is, that is not so much stupid as tragic. Don’t go there.
