Being right and making other people wrong is the worst kind of drug there is. It is totally addictive, but once the initial buzz of validation wears off, it will not make you happy in the least. And it can take a long time for all the nasty and seriously unpleasant side-effects to wear off.

How many relationships have been damaged between people who were absolutely, completely in the right? How many wars have been fought between nations who were absolutely, completely in the right? And between religions who were absolutely, completely in the right?

How many? All of them. Each and every one.

“This is how I see the world. And if you don’t see it the way I do, to hell with you.”

To hell with all of us …As all of us are effected to, some degree, by everything that happens in the world around us.

Very simply, insisting that you are completely and absolutely right, and attacking all those who disagree with you, harms both you and all those you make wrong.

Someone should make it illegal.

And what’s even more insidious is where you are completely and absolutely right … about yourself.

I can spend a lifetime trying to convince you that you are worthy, that you are good enough, that you are whole, complete and perfect.

But if you feel, in your heart of hearts, that you are total and utter crap, you won’t hear me.

Which won’t stop me from hammering away at you.

Because I know, and you know, that I am right about you …

And, just so we know, this piece of work, from A through to Z, is the exception that proves the rule. Everything I have written here is completely and absolutely right. It is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I spoke to God and He Said So.

And, more than that, He Said, “Phil, You know … You seem to know so much more than I do. About life. About, well, everything … I am now going to start worshipping You.”

And anyone who disagrees with this is a complete spanner who deserves to make Nike football shirts for 5p an hour, for 18 hours a day, in some sweltering pigsty in Hanoi.

So there.

Don’t mess with the wrath of Phil/God.
