The hardest thing for some people is being able to trust. They have been hurt so many times, they don’t want to risk it again.

But not everyone is out to get you. And not everyone is trying to deceive you. To assume they all are is to distort reality. Holding such a view of people is simply not true – no matter how much you try to convince yourself it is.

Never mind trusting others, if you indulge in such folly, how can you trust yourself?

Search long and hard for what is true and trust that.

Beyond anything else, your ability to engage with life is determined by the following point: can you trust yourself to deal with the unknown and unfamiliar? With the requirements of the moment?

Or are you reacting to something that happened 25 years ago?

No matter how well you deal with it now, you are 25 years too late. You cannot undo what your bullies did, or what your parents didn’t do, no matter how hard you try.

Trust yourself to come home to the now. That is the only way out of the trap.
