EXPRESSION

This is it: life wants to be expressed through you at every moment. Give it its rein. How? Throw as much of yourself into as much of life as you possibly can.

To do so is liberation. To fail to do so is pain. Simple as.

…………………

This really is the source of everything. Whatever joy or happiness you experience in life is directly related to how well and how much you are able to express yourself.

Unfortunately, we live in a culture where that isn’t always easy.

As children, we aren’t exactly encouraged to express ourselves. Why? Because that will cause a scene. If you are over-excited or crying or angry, at a social gathering, it is all the same to your parents, who are concerned that you will embarrass them: “Stop doing that! I’m going to smack you if you don’t stop …”

And we carry this with us through life. Suppressing ourselves to make sure that we don’t cause a scene. Reining ourselves in instead of pushing ourselves out. Which, I can tell you, is never fun.

And that’s why people drink and take drugs: because they now have an excuse to cause a scene!

And they wake up in the morning, feeling sick and depressed, because nothing has truly been resolved.

How to get through this? Find a compelling enough reason to express yourself that would go beyond any possible embarrassment. Believe, more than anything, that you are worth causing a scene. Because what you have to offer people is so amazing and fantastic, you have to throw it out there any way you can.
