LOVE

Love is a deep and intense affection and devotion for life.

…………………

Love does not discriminate. Love lacks nothing.

It is only in our foolishness that we do.

…………………

A life without love is emotional and spiritual death. It is hell on earth. It is a living, breathing torture. Your only way out is to choose love. Now.

…………………

Love is seeing someone in pain, and saying, “I don’t know if I can help you, but I will try all the same,” instead of saying, “I can’t deal with this, go away.”

…………………

When people think of love they usually focus on romantic love. It is nothing of the sort. Romantic love is having your needs filled emotionally and physically. Which can feel wonderful, for a time. But true love doesn’t need anything. If you need it you won’t have it. Particularly so, if you focus all of your hopes on the frail and fragile ‘love’ that can only exist between two very frail and fragile beings.

…………………

It is easy to love people as a theoretical and intellectual exercise. As a great big impersonal mass. It is far harder to actually love each and every one of them personally. And you must.

But, as well as giving love, how well are you able to receive love?

Those who are most desperate to receive love will have had plenty of opportunities to do so throughout their lives. The trouble is that, invariably, it will show up as fear: fear of intimacy; fear of rejection; fear of commitment; fear of being hurt; fear of losing love.

Chances are, that being a slave to their fears they will, almost certainly, decline the opportunity. And then they will wail about how they have no love in their lives …

The first step to having love, is to be able to accept it when it does show up.

Although, in truth, it is always here. We just aren’t present to it, most of the time.

Love is all.
