HUMOUR

Humour involves looking at pain square in the face and laughing at it. What makes this easier is the fact that it is usually someone else’s pain.

…………………

Within humour there is high and low status.

As a classic example, you have the king and you have the fool.

The fool, in his own way, pokes fun out of the king. The fact that he gets away with it (and everyone, apart from the king, recognises exactly what he is up to), is his own way of relaying to the world that, beyond appearance, he is the one with power and status.

…………………

My goal is that no matter what happens in life, no matter how sad or painful it is, I will find the humour in it.

Perhaps, not at this moment …

Perhaps, not in the next day or week or month …

Perhaps, not this year, this decade, or this lifetime …

Perhaps, not one hundred lifetimes from now …

But, eventually.

That is my goal.

…………………

Comedians should be running the country. No joke.

Comedians acknowledge problems with complete clarity and honesty, without any bs. They come up with ideas and solutions which seem completely ridiculous and far-fetched, on the surface, but the more you think about it, the more there is actually a logic there.

For example, my idea that comedians should be running the country would be dismissed by many as completely ridiculous and far-fetched. Until they remember that a bunch of comedians are running the country. And it ain’t no joke.
