Never compromise on what you believe, and on what you want to achieve. That isn’t to say that you cannot reach agreement and consensus where there is disagreement and dissension. If it would serve you to reach agreement and consensus with people, don’t compromise in your efforts to achieve that.

Where possible, do not damage your relationships with other people. But, as importantly, do not damage your relationship with yourself. If you do, or don’t do something, because you don’t want to upset other people, but you end up upsetting yourself, then you have chosen poorly. It’s your life, dummy.
